project AGRICULTURE is a website-based comprehensive, interactive and unique program designed for Alberta classrooms. We developed the project AGRICULTURE resources for a partner group of Alberta producer organizations – Alberta Milk, Alberta Chicken, Egg Farmers of Alberta, Alberta Hatching Egg Producers and Alberta Turkey – and more recently, Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers and Alberta Wheat and Barley.
project AGRICULTURE provides opportunities to explore agricultural themes, topics, issues and challenges in local and global contexts and encourages students to interact with each other, their school community, farmers and content experts. These project-based and/or activity-centred learning resources provide opportunities for students to explore six topics at the junior/senior high level and five at the elementary level.
project AGRICULTURE supports learning across Grades 4, 5 and 6 Social Studies, Science, Math, Language Arts, Wellness and Career Technology Foundations, as well as Grades 7 to 11 Social Studies, Science and Biology, focuses on competency development and supports literacy and numeracy.
Comprehensive PDF resources embedded in the website are centred on guiding questions and include a teacher resource, student learning sources, competency and skill-based handouts, project tools and vocabulary and assessment supports.
